Sweet buttery change.

June 7, 2010

Over the past couple months working on this little word a day project, I’ve unfortunately become a little….bored with my selections on words/missions/etc. What had started as an attempt at promoting personal growth, turned into not only a chore, but a bore as well. This was due in part to my lack of creativity and courage in the missions I would write for the word that day…. They were too safe…too easy. Sure they were thought provoking, but that wasn’t the point. The point was for action provoking missions. So, as I begin to remake/remix/redo/rewrite/reorganize this blog, I am going to focus on a few key changes.

1. More interesting missions.
The missions need to be much more creative and outside of the box. They also need to be challenging and fun to do. This, however, can make a daily word/mission a ridiculous attempt. If the missions are difficult and challenging, having one everyday but Sunday would leave those involved very….tired. I don’t want this project to crash due to being burnt out. So, the solution I foresee is having a word/mission ever other day, once a week, or 3 days a week…. Your opinion matters, so go ahead and give it to me in the comment box below.

2. More questions.
There needs to be more direct to reader questions and challenges. These need to be interesting, the provoking, and action encouraging questions. This aspect is completely on me, the author, but I would love any suggestions on how to pull you all into this blog more and more.

3. Responses containing media.
Most of my responses (and your responses) to the word/mission of the day will now include photos or videos. Because those are so much cooler than words.

4. Other ways to captivate.
Other ways of pulling you, the reader, into this blog will be explored. Things like contests, polls, reader created content etc. Any ideas you may have would be much appreciated.

5. More authors.
I’m also working on getting more authors involved – if you’d like to be one, email me at iamlving@gmail.com and we’ll chat.

You’re thoughts on how this blog/idea could be better are appreciated, so please, leave them in the comment box below.

This one’s always been hard for me. Whether it be waking up when I say I will, or sculpting my guns regularly, I have determined that I often lack the discipline to stick to the things I long to turn habitual. The only real way to change this is to just change it. I could sit here explaining all the reasons I suck at being disciplined about certain things, but I’d rather spare you all the boredom and just start being more disciplined now.

.Black Vinyl Seats.

Black vinyl seats
and passenger feet
Learn to be silent
Nose deep in your sheets
We stare straight ahead
and keep to ourselves
We teach all our children
To live in our hells
Can’t break away
Even just for the day
Not living but breathing
and wasting away.

Where
Is the meaning in this?

Handed down thoughts
of battles we’ve lost
Kill all potential
No matter the cost
We’ll alter our minds
Lose track of time
Give it all up
For a second’s sublime.

Where
Is the meaning in this?

.Fisheye Lens.

Little feet, giant leap
The distance travelled
The journey between
Collapsing heart, middle man
Choose the side
That you know will win.
Bitter taste, mind erased
Cursed is the life
that runs away.
Cheering fans, fisheye lens
Pleased to see you
I say to a friend.
Life is a burden I’m willing to mend
Love is the truth I find at the end.
Losing life, melting ice
I can’t believe
I didn’t decide
Losing my tide
The winnings aside
Lost in a maze
and waiting to die.

.Trial and Error.

We spend our days
Trial and error
Choose our ways
Of toil and terror
Complacent but restless
We’re free and we’re slaves
Fatigued but unaccomplished
We dig our own graves.
